10 reviews for 8Bitdo Ultimate 2C Wireless Controller for Windows PC and Android, with Hall Effect Joysticks and Hall Triggers, 1000Hz Polling Rate, and Remappable L4/R4 Bumpers – Black Myth:…

Ordered this right as it came out because I loved the design and the game, but I had no idea it was gonna be this enjoyable to use. I also own the Ultimate C lilac purple controller from 8bitdo, and it works solid but the bumpers are very stiff and the buttons just feel a little lackluster.

However, this controller is an immense step up in pretty much every way. The dpad is dead silent and feels great, the sticks feel good, buttons are clicky and solid in place, and the bumpers require much less force and make a light clicking sound akin to using a mouse. I love it and this is my new favorite controller by far, super glad I bought it on a whim.

(It has some extra buttons as well so it’s objectively even cooler)

I mainly got this because I wanted something a bit more color neutral than the regular Ultimate 2C variants which all are pastel based. I don’t even own Black Myth: Wukong although maybe I’ll give it a try down the road.

The controller itself is like a happy medium between the Switch Pro Controller and Xbox One Gamepad with elements from both. Although it’s more akin to the Pro Controller in terms of hand feel. The buttons and dpad are all very responsive and have this clicky feel to them despite the dpad being a membrane one. The Hall effect sticks and triggers also just feel premium. The additional programmable buttons near the triggers are also a welcome one too. But if you don’t want to take advantage of them they don’t get in the way.

All in all for $35 USD before sales tax it’s a great PC gamepad comes with a USB dongle and a USB-C cable for charging. You can use this via Bluetooth as well if you want. Hoping this last me many seasons of gaming.

    Pros
    – great sticks
    – like the dpad
    – triggers feel good
    Cons
    – They don’t let u use the software for their pro controllers so the extra buttons on this controller can’t be bound to anything extra.
    – overly loud vibration motor
    – not a good fit for large hands

If you have smaller-medium hands this is a great budget pick. If you have larger hands or expected a pro controller I’d look elsewhere.

Let me help you revise this text to make it clearer and more polished while maintaining your key points:
Having been a gaming enthusiast since the 1980s, I’ve handled countless controllers across various systems. When comparing the 8BitDo to high-end offerings like the Xbox Series X controllers (both Elite and standard) and the acclaimed PS5 DualSense, I’m genuinely impressed. The 8BitDo delivers a gaming experience that’s just as good, if not better. The immersion is remarkable – there’s a distinctive connection to the game that’s hard to put into words. Whether it’s the tactile feedback of the buttons or the perfect weight distribution, something about it just feels right.
What’s particularly noteworthy is how this controller demonstrates that quality hardware can be manufactured in China at reasonable prices. It really calls into question the premium pricing strategy of Microsoft and Sony. Given their massive production volumes, their manufacturing costs per controller are likely quite low, yet their retail prices remain high. While they maintain significant markups, 8BitDo chooses to pass those savings on to consumers, offering excellent value without compromising on quality.

I mainly wanted a secondary controller so I can play with friends locally so it can’t be too expensive, it needs to be wireless, hall effect (must have), back buttons (I assign them to L3 and R3 for convienance). I’ve dealt with controller stick drift before and it really sucks so I’m really happy this controller has hall effect sticks and buttons at a affortable price.
At the time of purchase, the other colors for this controller were either out of stock or it’ll arrive very late so that also factored into my decision to buy this special edition controller.
I’m happy with it it works! The software was easy to install and use from 8bitdo’s website, you can do more fancy things with this but I kept things simple for my use case.
    Overall, I recommend it.

  6. Shulk

En general me gusto mucho, pero aun sigo sin saber como se mapean los botones extras.

  7. Merpos

Does everything as advertised and looks great. Haven’t had any issues with it. Feels good in the hand, probably would feel better with smaller hands as it’s not the largest controller, but it still felt pretty good to hold with larger hands nonetheless. Would recommend.

  8. Jadecraft

I’m used to the controllers on the PS5, so these definitely felt different to me, but they’re still high quality! The buttons are more clicky, like instant input compared to the controls on the PS5. And I really like the thickness of L1 and R1 on the PS5, so it took some adjusting to. Everything feels super instant and snappy, and comparing the price of the regular Ultimate controller, it is a must buy! I bought a wired switch controller from GameStop for 25 dollars, and this doesn’t compare! Buy it now!

  9. Ryan Allen

Bluetooth has never worked since day one. The 2.4 ghz will drop off constantly, about once every ten or fifteen minutes. And sometimes the controller just turns itself off mid game, sometimes multiple times in a row. It does all of these things with a full battery charge, playing within 6 feet of my computer. The only way it works perfect is when connected with a cable. Not good for wireless gaming at all.

I can’t believe I was spending so much money on the official Xbox and Dualsense controller when this guy can pretty much do everything much better, with more features and most important, with half the price tag depending on which variant of this controller you buy. Here’s my quick breakdown without going into extreme minute details and calculations:

Build and Material and connectivity: The controller feels sturdy, not cheap but not too premium either. It’s lightweight, so that can be a big advantage if you hate heavy controllers. Size-wise it’s smaller than Xbox and DS, but It’s not too small, nor it gave me any kind of discomfort while playing games, rather I would say its compact size feels much better when playing heavy action packed games as you can juggle around buttons way quickly! The textured grip is pretty decent and the thumb stick, triggers, d-pad and other buttons are also sturdy and satisfying to press. For the price, it has surprisingly amazing build quality! Even connectivity wise, I didn’t face any issues and the dongle works well.

    2. Additional features: This is where it shines! The extra R4/L4 bumpers are awesome and very useful in combat games. At first, they might seem small and hard to press, but when you do start playing, they are surprisingly easy to reach (maybe coz of the controller compact size) and makes the gameplay so much fun as you can remap them in game or assign them as a secondary button from the controller. For example, pressing the right thumbstick for certain actions can be a pain, with this controller you can just assign the thumb stick click to R4/L4.
Other important features with be the Hall effects sticks and triggers, so no worries of the infamous dead zones which are currently haunting the premium elite 2 controllers.

In conclusion, I rarely post any reviews, but this controller is so good for the price that I couldn’t stop myself from writing one! It’s a great upgrade from your old xbox and ds controllers with a lot more additional features with no sacrifice in the build quality along with a reasonable price tag! Enjoy your controller and happy gaming.
