The overall kit is nice but the quality control in the kit I received was lacking greatly. The first issue I had was the template they sent to use when you cut the firewall was too large. They printed it wrong so if I didn’t notice it the hole would of been 3/4″ to large on both sides. I decided to make my own which worked ok but took longer as I did it from scratch. The second issue I had was the washer/nut that mounts the inner fuse panel to the plug in the engine bay wasn’t installed correctly and fell out. I had to separate a few things and took the fuse panel back off of the firewall in order to get the everything to mount together before reinstalling everything. The last big issue I had was with the tail lights. When the breaks were applied the running lights turned on and the running lights were on the brake lights were applied. I called up American AutoWire tech support and they said it was a ground issue. I checked everything over, tested every ground, checked all connections and started to realize I needed to start looking for a issue in the kit itself. It took 15min to find out they switched the wires for the rear taillights when they made the kit. I called them up and they sent a new one right away but the three days wasted trying find the issue was frustrating. Except for these issues the kits works great. Just make sure to keep your old harness until you have everything working well for troubleshooting.

I have a 1971 Chevy C10 truck I bought this American Autowire kit for …. Supposedly better because it’s a plug and play since it comes with all the correct connectors ( NOT SO )
No charge meter provisions in the wiring harness
No AC provisions beyond low/med fan speeds
Like the AC compressor and high low pressure switch
Taillight harness bulkhead is not waterproof
Nor is it at the rear where it connects to taillights assemblies
Disappointed and Not A FAN AT ALL……..

The media could not be loaded.

I suggest getting the crimpers. Installation was well thought out. Looks great too.

This is my 2nd American Autowire kit I’ve used for car builds. They’re very well put together and installation is easy.
