Bird –
This is my second set of power tools that i’ve purchased for basic around-the-house use. My first set was a combo kit from a big box store that worked well, but after using these, I wish I would have paid the extra money and got this set to begin with. There are features that add to the experience, but the main difference, at least in my opinion, is in the power and consistency.
The features: The built in light(that can be turned on or off) comes in handy when you’re working in the in the evening or night(lack of sunlight), or in dark places. The holster seems so simple but really comes in handy when you’re doing anything on a ladder or trying to multitask and have no helpers nearby. The grip and handle feel great to hold, and the bag is large enough to hold everything it comes with and then some. This has come in handy when i’m trying to take only 1 bag with enough tools to get the job done. The drill has a hammer feature, so you don’t need to get a separate hammer drill for those more intense moments. And lastly, maybe not a feature per se, but having two batteries on hand gives you piece of mind that you can finish whatever job you start without having to wait for the battery to recharge. Any of the projects I have done were completed with just one battery.
Although the set I originally purchased were good enough, and probably would be perfectly fine for most of my basic uses, having the extra power and consistency just makes things a little easier. I did have to replace my drill because it wasn’t as powerful as when I first got it and felt like it was on its way out. Over the years I’ve learned that most of the time you get what you pay for, and that having the right tools really make a difference. This set comes at a higher price point, but if you can get these, it definitely worth it.
Bird –
First, I will start off by saying that I have been a loyal user of Dewalt tools for many years, and my 20V Max tools expand well beyond the four tools that come with this set. This combo kit is perfect for household or commercial purposes, and provide versatility for so many different projects. The batteries are long lasting, and the tools are excellent quality with plenty of power to get the job done no matter what you’re doing.
Below are the features that I loved most about this set:
– The contractor bag is excellent quality and leaves ample room for the tools that come with this set, plus additional room for others. It even has dedicated pouches on the side to hold the batteries, charger or other accessories.
– The motors for each of the tools are brushless, so you’ll get less friction, consistent power, more torque and more durability out of your tools.
– Each of the tools have a built in light that can be turned on or off during use. This is a great feature for those low light situations.
– These tools are comfortable to hold and have plenty of adjustable features depending on the intended use. If you are trying to drive a lag screw through a stud, the impact driver will handle the job flawlessly. If you are trying to drill through concrete, the hammer drill performs equally as well. The reciprocating saw is great for demolition, tree trimming, etc. You really can’t go wrong with these tools, no matter whether the project is large or small.
– This set comes with a charger and two batteries. While the batteries last a long time, having the extra battery is a huge plus so you have a backup when working on larger projects.
– The LED work light works really well as a spot light, but it is not intended for larger areas. With that said, it is lightweight, can be hung for hands free use, and the rotating head is a nice feature. I was replacing my carpet with wood flooring, and I had to remove a ton of exposed staples from my subfloor. The light worked perfectly in that situation as I was walking through my house to make sure I didn’t miss any staples prior to installing my flooring.
If you are considering getting this set I wouldn’t even give it a second thought. You will not be disappointed. The tools are excellent quality and will last you many years to come. Highly recommend.

This is a good set if you’re just getting started with DeWalt tools as it has some of the basics. The tools are the nice brushless variety. Brushless tools have increased power, runtime, and make less noise than the brushed variety.
It comes with two 5 Ah batteries (and charger) which are a good size for general use. I consider anything larger too heavy for hand tools and better in things like their lawnmowers or stationary tools. I always pick up one of these versus one of my chunky 9 Ah batteries for a hand tool, or one of the newer Powerstack batteries if I’m doing some light work.
The drill and driver are very nice and have a ton of torque. I’ve used the impact driver to drive 3/8″ lag screws 3 1/2″ into wood studs to mount a huge television. The drill has enough torque for my 6″ hole cutters which give most drills a hard time due to its mass and torque required to cut. The drill also has a hammer feature which is for masonry.
The reciprocating saw is powerful, but it only accepts blades in the vertical direction, not the horizontal as well like another model I have (see the picture). I prefer the ability to cut horizontally as well. It’s often more ergonomic than rotating the tool.
The light isn’t that useful and kind of dim. I prefer DeWalt’s newer articulating LED light (DCL044). It’s brighter, smaller, and more versatile. I think they’ll be retiring this one. I also like their larger work light with kick stand. It’s brighter and more of a floodlight.
The bag is nice, except the plastic strips on the bottom. They’re hollow and thin and mine arrived with a chunk missing. Besides that, it has a nice zipper and metal frame.
