Awesome sander. Plenty of power and good battery life. Nice not having to work around an electric cord, especially when sanding projects that can not be easily brought into the workshoop.

Last year I was on the market for cordless tools and I decided to go with Dewalt’s 20W Max platform. This sander is an awesome addition to my tool collection. Only the effectivness of the dust bag it comes with is a bit so-so. However, the system for attaching the dust bag is awesome and can easily be converted into a shop-vac adapter. Excellent purchase!

This is not a longevity review as I have not owned the product for very long. I’ve used it to sand 3 cabinets so far. That being said I find the sound level good, the amount of vibration to my hand good, the dust collection is good and it’s effectiveness is good. I therefore consider this a good tool and am happy with this purchase. I have not used many other orbital sanders and this is the only cordless. I have other DeWalt cordless tools and four batteries so have thrown my lot in with Dewalt. So far I’m not disappointed.

I purchased this product so that I could polish a table top with very fine sanding disks (up to 10000 grit). It did a pretty good job at this. I started working with a 5 AH battery, but it was too heavy on one side, and unbalanced the sander. Even with a small (1.5 AH) battery, it was a little unbalanced. But the 1.5 AH battery doesn’t last too long, and requires frequent recharging ( maybe after 15 min of sanding).
This is the first random orbit sander that I have used, so I cant compare it with others, although I like the fact that it doesn’t have a cord.
As far as how long it will last, time will tell.

Definetly need to have a spare battery charged for long projects. I got through 3-4 standard size cabinet doors with each, not enough lag as battery got low to cause swirl marks. Definetly compares to the air orbital i used to use in quality of finished product.
Bag doesn’t pull in much but one could easily maguiver a shop vac in it’s place for cleaner workspace

It is a great tool like all the Dewalt ones. It is very practical not having a power cord. A 5Ahr battery can last about 30 minutes to an hour of full-power use, so it is good to have a backup battery for complex jobs. Overall I am happy about it.

Easy to handle… even with larger 4 hr. battery. 10 speed settings… was only using #1 for smoothing a surface and seemed like plenty of power. Moreover, when you turn off the power the wheel stops on a dime!

What a brilliant bit of kit. Easy to hold with an easy to reach speed dial for optimal control and its cordless. What’s not to like.

Love the compact design and easy of use. The speed selector is great as my old model was always flat out and jumping out of hands.
