I bought this for my husband for Christmas. He does a lot of work remodeling our house and building new things and he absolutely loves this. I had ordered the tool only because he already had several batteries that would work with it. He’s looking forward to the next project he will be able to use it on.

    Works like a charm.

This is a Great tool. makes quick work of shaving off small amounts of material. Easy to keep cuts square and even.

  4. Amazon Customer

Effortless on hard or soft wood. Will update when the tungston carbides have a few more miles on them.

I bought this when I started a huge down of a massive deck. Roughly 800 square feet of treated lumber and redwood decking. Dealing with twisted wood is pretty much a given these days. Your average Home Depot board can be tied in a knot. Having the ability to remove material quickly and accurately really helps level out your work.

The cordless power planner is a great tool for the woodshop. It uses battery life more than any other cordless tool I have owned. The abjustment for stock removal is an excellent feature.

I am a contractor and have done a custom wood work for years and purchase the hand planer because my old Bosch was 20 years old not cordless. Unfortunately, the Milwaukee planer aluminum base was too soft and began to get scored and scratched after just 10 passes on a maple wood face frame edge. This made it very difficult to push along the wood smoothly and to get an acceptable finish. I highly doubt it would even hold up to softer woods like pone or poplar. Whereas my 20 year old Bosch has a steel base that has never been scratched in all the years of use.

I’ve only used this a few times but it has been great so far. Lots of power and a very smooth finish. Goes through 5 amp hour batteries pretty fast but that’s not surprising.

Update : is been a year or so and I’ve used this a lot. Still works great and contrary to another review that I read, it takes standard blades for this type of planer. Easy to change too. Great tool.

Just finished a remodel job and used this for all sorts of applications, but mostly planing doors. Going cordless makes all the difference! Also, I primarily used the 2.0 batteries, which worked fine for maybe three doors before getting low. But the amp sacrifice was worth it for most of my applications this time because the smaller battery makes this tool easier to maneuver. My only gripe would be that it’s hard to keep from grabbing the depth adjustment knob while running the tool because it’s in an ergonomic location for a handle. Even after a few doors, I kept finding myself grabbing the damn adjustment knob when the tool was at an odd angle and I desired a better grip. It’s just one of those things you get used to. It would help if there was a lock on the adjustment knob so you could grab it and not worry about accidentally changing the depth. Anyway, overall this is a great tool that I felt did my jobs exceptionally well and paid for itself on just this one job.

I love this planer. I’ve used it on rough work like smoothing out rough cut 6×6 posts and I’ve used it on finer work like taking a 1/16″ off the side of a finished piece of wood. The adjustment knob is big enough to grip easily, even in gloves, and the preset “stops” click into place and hold well. You can adjust the discharge to the left or right side. The blades are super sharp and cut smoothly. It’s a solid tool that works just like it’s supposed to work and I couldn’t be happier with it.
