10 reviews for Ryobi 18-Volt ONE+ Cordless Compression Drive 3/8 in. Crown Stapler (Tool Only) P317

I purchased these (quite expensive if you think about it) electric stapler in order to add to my tool shed for casual DIY projects and cabling I do. I had seen someone review this new version and I was impressed with the product. I was blown away how much better they are than my Stanley set with cabling and the sheer force of the staple itself. I use it for some standard stapling, but where I found it much better at doing was stapling cables in place. I do a lot of networking and cable work for A/V and computer work and these staples have some real holding power while having a nice guide to avoid the obvious, hitting the cable. So many times I just needed a way to hold the cable in place while we button things up, that I reach for a stapler to hold the cable and even though those staplers had guides, they werent very fixed in place and allowed the cables to move during the inevitable jump of the stapler when it hits.

This is something I really like about this stapler, the kickback of the unit while in use is almost nothing. This means you are much more likely to put that staple where you wanted it. Most hand held staple guns tend to shift when they follow through the strike, but this unit does a great job.

Pros: Fast, no waiting for the next trigger pull and no lead time for the strike. Holds many staples in one go. Easy to see how many staples are left (though the final 10 or so are obscured). Supports a few sizes of staples. Common and inexpensive battery platform that hasnt changed for 20 years. Powerful and strikes through even metal corner plates with ease without having to hammer in the final amount. Wont leave the average staple proud even in most hardwoods.

Cons: It is much bigger than a manual stapler, granted. Need some experience with the unit to better gauge the final location of the staple. Even though there is a mark for the staple, the edge of the unit is quite a bit wider than the staple. Can’t staple extremely close to your edges because the staple fires about a 1/3 inch from the edge of the staple gun. Doesn’t have bump fire modes (get the Milwaukee if that is your thing), but is a bit stronger firing mechanism than even the red sister tool.

    Works great.

I had to do two reupholstery jobs and dreaded having to use a manual stapler, not only is a manual stapler hard on the hands and wrists but sometimes the staples won’t go in all the way depending on the person’s strength, as a woman I don’t have a lot of strength to do a large stapling project and have to take a lot of breaks to give my hands a rest. All my tools are from RYOBI so I had plenty of interchangeable batteries that this cordless stapler requires so I purchased it and thought I have nothing to lose. This Ryobi 18-Volt ONE+ Cordless Compression Drive 3/8 in. Crown Stapler works like a dream! Out of the almost full box of staples that I used not one staple jammed, not one staple only went in part way! Perfect every time! The battery I used did not have to be charged again and still had plenty of charge left. Fits readily available T50 size staples, it is very easy to load the staples into the stapler. A project that normally would have taken all day only took a couple of hours and no pain in my hands! Another great RYOBI product that I definitely recommend.

Used it to build boat trailer carpeted bunks. Adjustable staple depth is a bit plus. Stapler is light weight and easy to use. Well built, powerful and good quality for the money.

How to put up a thermal barrier in my attic that required over 1000 staples. The Ryobi device performed perfectly! It is light weight and doesn’t require a high mAh battery.

This, and all the other Ryobi tools I have work perfectly. The battery charge last quite a long time, too. I use it frequently and have never been disappointed.

I will NEVER use an old fashioned staple gun again, which are very hard to squeeze to get the staple to eject, making the staple gun’s aim always off. But THIS staple gun is really awesome. It is a little heavier because of the battery, but stapling accuracy is 100% improved over the old staple gun. I love this and I’m “a girl!”

We love Ryobi and needed something to staple targets up with and this fit the bill. It’s easy to use. It doesn’t come with a battery, but if you already have Ryobi tools then you have the battery so why be forced to buy another. I haven’t built anything with it yet or used it for long periods but it is doing what I intended for it to do, sit quietly until needed to put 20 staples into wood.

I do a lot of things that require staples. I build my own canvases for paintings and I often make simple frames. This staplegun has saved me from hand cramps and allows me to get more consistent staple depth.it performa well I rarely have to go over the staples with a hammer and I get far less jams than my manual stapler. I think this uses the least amount of battery of my tools. it looks well made and works much faster than a manual stapler. it may be a bit heavy if you’re stuck with your arm out but for less and an air powered stapler.
