10 reviews for Ryobi 18V Multi Tool

It works like it should but the whole fat bottom battery end is almost a deal breaker. The good thing is more power, for longer than the harbor freight equivalent, but don’t expect to get in behind faucets or tight quarters. If you’re cutting out baseboard, removing caulk in the wide open all day, this is your tool. IF you’re looking to finesse something, look elsewhere.

I have a major collection of Ryobi tools so this unit without the battery was a good value. I have a corded Dremel version of this tool but it is not as easy to use. Besides it saw features it makes a nice small project sander.

Sin duda es la mejor herramienta que se puede comprar, de calidad y a buen precio. Sin duda excelente

I was impressed when I first used it. It was comparable to the Milwaukee DeWalt that my neighbor has. And I’ve used. Got for a great price compared to the others. but quit working on me cutting some drywall today and it’s only the 4th time I’ve used. Would have been 5 stars other wise.

    Updated review:
I’m kind of handy so I took the unit apart myself, found one of the rubber isolators had came out of place and got sucked into the motor stalling the motor. I was able to pull the rubber isolator out of the motor and put it all back together. Unit now works as designed just like the day. I took it out of the box so I updated my review to five stars because it is a very good product. Also, Customer Service had contacted me after they saw my review and wanted to take care of it anyway they could which I really appreciate. I would still buy another one of these, even if I had to replace it because of the fast response from the manufacturer even months after I purchased it.

It was a gift for my husband. He seems to like it a lot. Works well and very useful.

Versatile, lightweight and reliable. Have used it to cut neat holes in sheetrock, aluminum plate (with a metal blade), shaved off the bottoms of trim around door frames neatly. Even used it to trim a goat’s horn! Seems to go a long time on a battery, draws little current.

Added this “funny saw” tool to my Ryobi collection over a year ago and it quickly became indispensable for a multitude of tasks. Until one day, all of a sudden, it stopped! Had to dig in my tool box for half a dozen other tools to continue the job. I replaced it right away. When the new one came in, I took the broken one apart, as any good engineer would do. It disassembles easily with a torx driver, then open as a clam shell. The motor is shock/vibration mounted in the outer housing with 6 rubber pads. One of those pads had come loose and found its way into the motor housing and jammed the rotor. It came out with some difficulty, but without damage to the motor. Once removed, the motor and tool again worked fine. As I reassembled the tool, I glued the vibration pads to the housing. Now I have a funny saw for both hands! As a side note, that was the only one of my 8 Ryobi hand tools to ever have a problem, most of which are many years old.

You can use this anywhere since there isn’t a cord. Shoe molding corrections, bottom of door shave.
It just makes the job easier. Plenty of power

I have a lot of the ryobi 18V one tools, along with several batteries. I have been able to purchase several as the “tool only” from here. Don’t need anything else. This one is very handy for trimming drywall around outlet boxes – what I purchased it for when finishing off my son’s basement. Take the extra time and register the tool with the ryobi website to get the full warranty. Their warranty service claims 10 day turn around, but one product I needed to return, a small 18v air compressor took several months. So that aspect of ryobi is horrible. I purchased a second small compressor and when my warranty replacement finally arrived, I gave it as a Xmas gift.

I bought this Ryobi multi tool on Amazon- tool only. And it doesn’t work. I have a lot of Ryobi batteries. The port the battery slides into reads ‘use only battery packs listed or P197’. That is the battery I used. While not my favorite brand of tools, I have always found Ryobi tools solid, durable and affordable. When I needed a multi tool, finding a good, tool only deal was a no brainer. I have 4 Ryobi batteries in total. The product arrived at my work site in good shape. The packaging was undisturbed and there were no signs of damage. The light on the head of the tool lights up when the trigger is depressed, but no spinning. I have charged all of my Ryobi batteries to full, and I have tried each and every one on this brand new, out of the box tool. And it simply doesn’t work. The return process is also kind of bogus. I listed my reason for return, and I was referred to the Ryobi support page. Ryobi has essentially shipped me a box with a rock in it and now I am burdened with proving it doesn’t work. If it worked, I would be done with the project I bought it for and not wasting my time complaining about it in a review.
