This is great product. You get to use your oem key and installation took me about 30 minutes. Can’t beat this price if you are looking for a remote starter. Only con I see is that some other systems provide greater feedback to let you know your vehicle was actually started and some systems have greater distance but if you are looking for something basic that works great and is easy to install – this is what you should get!

Literally couldn’t ask for a more idiot proof design.
Disconnect negative cable from battery. Remove 2 Philips head screws from lower steering wheel cover. Unplug 2 connectors seen on numerous online videos, plug in factory connectors to corresponding size connector in remote start kit, then connect remote start kit connectors back where you removed the factory connectors. Run end of harness with 3 small connectors towards floorboard. Connect 3 small harness connectors the included black module. Reconnect and tighten negative battery cable. On push to start models like ours press push start button twice with fob inside cab. Module LED light starts flashing green, 25 seconds later turns solid green then 3 seconds later turns off. That’s it programming is done. Zip tie harness from kit securely with zip ties includes and keep clear of steering column best you can so your tilt steering isn’t affected. Snap lower cover of steering cover back together with top cover. Re- tighten 2 Philips head screws you removed. Don’t over tighten. Close all 4 doors and hatch. Press lock 3 times wait 5-10 seconds starts automatically. Hit lock 3 times to turn off. We noticed when you use remote start the radio doesn’t turn on until you put it in gear. I love this feature especially if you forgot you left your music blaring and you start the car early in the morning or late in the evening. Great design. Easiest install I’ve ever seen in my life. If you mess up this install you shouldn’t be allowed to pump gas it’s so simple.

I was quoted $500+ to have a local shop install a remote starter in my Mazda CX-9. Then someone on Reddit recommended a DIY solution. That landed me here. Prior to buying, a watched a how-to and it seemed really easy. Too easy! And man it was. I did it in 15 minutes. Piece of cake.

Updated review:
My first unit worked for approx. 1 day. It then began shutting the car down after several seconds. It would continue to try and restart 3 times, but always left the doors unlocked. I contacted their support via Email (No support on weekends). I was sent a replacement unit very quickly. The sad part is that after installing my new module, there was a new issue. Yes, the starter started the car perfectly this time, but now it was disabling my remote key fob, and the door button used to open the locks. I was unable to gain entry into the car while it was running. I had to use the “emergency” manual key to gain entry. Upon opening the door, the car shut off instantly. There was no 30sec time-out to get in and hit the breaks. I tried reprogramming the module using the reset function to no avail. I ended up returning the unit back to Amazon for a full refund. No residual issues are present in my car, so the only thing lost is some time. No hard feeling towards Start-X. I am happy with the support they provided. It was probably just bad luck on my part. I might consider trying them again, but not sure yet.

The only instructions are a card indicating you need to watch a YouTube video for the physical installation. Though it does help, having an actual instruction booklet would be better as you are upside-down under your dash. Second, there is never a time in the video, or on the card when it tells you it is now safe to reconnect the battery. It goes from watch the video, to push the start button twice. It is also vague on if you should actual try and start the car with the breaks on or not (the answer turned out to be no break pedal). The video does not provide any information on how to secure the box under the dash, nor does it give any cable routing information. The harness is also about a foot too long. There is no reason for this huge cable when you only need it to be a 6 or 8 inches in length. Programming takes about 30 seconds and it did work without issue. I would have given it 5 stars if the instructions were actually in existence. The functionality is perfect. Worked on the first try. I love that it works with the manufacturers remote, and that you do NOT need to send this in for programming. Would I buy it again? YES! and I might just do that for my girlfriends Mazda 3, assuming after a month or 2 it is still working.

Works great! Nice easy install. Programs itself in a few minutes once’s installed. Securing the wiring was the hardest part. Highly recommended.
Update: discovering a bit more about this unit. It is a Directed Ds3+, startx units typically are fortin units. Adding an rf kit the viper d*** kits are required, the rf kits/instructions on startx site are not compatible . Assuming the increased price is also related to “directed-Ds3” unit being used.
Still working on adding the rf kit. Assuming with the proper kit I should be able to be this working, was just surprised on the brand used in this case.
Lock 3x works great so far.

Despite some bad reviews saying it doesn’t work on the Mazda CX-9, it was an easy install on my 2018 CX9 and works like a champ.

Installation took less than 30 minutes. Excellent instruction video and other youtube resources. Be not afraid.

I watched a 15 minute video, twice to understand installation. Installation time about 30 minutes. I could probably do the next one in 15 minutes since I understand the steps . Reprogram “auto down” power windows is required, explanation in video. Warning…disconnect your battery to prevent damage to the unit. Plastic trim pry tool and zip ties included was a nice touch.
Now cold mornings are no big deal , definitely recommended for DIYer. This kit was 1/3 the price of the dealer accessories kit.

This product meet all of my emptions, this device is made very well and works like a charm. I called the support team before buying their product to ask some question about how the programming work and about an installation, this team was very responsive and know their product and that is why I bought it. Once I did the install that went very well and no issues, I started my car with the remote that came with it when I purchased it. The only thing that I was not able to figure out was how to keep it started once I enter the car, it would shut off. I call the support team and they said that I would need to step on the break for three seconds and it would not shut off. I replied with it should have been in the instructions. The tech replied it should have been printed on the back of the instructions, I told him I read all of the instruction and it was not there. He said did you look at the last page on the back. I reply no. When I did in was printed on the back page. All Good. The tech reply no worries, and asked if all was good. I reply with I more then good at this point.
