I assembled the drill per the instructions and put it to work. It drilled holes ok, but, when I went to change the bit, the quick release mechanism did not function as stated. It would not release the bit. I had to disassemble the quick release head (luckily I had the tools in my shop to do so) and the problem was obvious. Either a design flaw or implementation error, bottom line the spring clip that is intended to retract the bearings in the head do not retract them enough to release the bit. The only way to get a bit out of the unit I purchased is to disassemble the head, switch bits and reassemble. (see video for problem)

I’ll warn you now, this operation is not for anyone without patience or mechanical inclination. It is very had to get the bearings to stay in the mechanism when reassembling.

My advice to anyone considering buying this drill is to ensure you get the one that has the screw mechanism for securing the bit..see the attached photo… nothing to fail there.

I bought an Evolution Mag Drill, true it was about $180 more but it is a far better unit and most importantly to me, it works correctly out of the box.

A message about Vevor support… their call center people are very friendly and professional, the only problem is they can’t do anything except forward your message to the “tech support” team in china so you have to wait 48-72 hours for a response to each question. The solution they suggested to me was to replace the “spindle”. It was very confusing because they showed a photo of the screw based “spindle” (what they called it) however the tech support videos they provided showed the process for replacing a part up in the motor assembly… this was very frustrating because the part they were replacing in the video has nothing to do with the quick release mechanism… It would have been a waste of time and could cause other problems because you have to dissasemble the main part of the drill that is packed with grease.
I should have returned it when I could, but I had it for 3 weeks before I got around to using it…clock ran out. This unit is of a quality you would find at Harbor Freight, at least if you have a problem with a tool of theirs, they replace it no questions asked.

This make cutting steel holes a piece of cake. Works perfect. Would definitely buy again. Worth every penny.

Bought this as I need to drill a lot of holes in 1/2″ steel, this thing works great, both with the cutters and when using the supplied chuck. I did notice that L is forward and R is reverse, I had assumed they were Left and Right but thats how mine is wired. At this price its worth buying. Magnet is strong enough to pick up 50lb of steel with ease and the speed control is worth having. When using the jacobs style chuck, sometime when you drill through your material it will fall off but thats more of a binding issue than a tool issue. So far so good, would buy again.

  5. ERNEST

This is a great little unit. Light weight about 25 lbs. I drill over 400 7/8 holes in 7/8 steel.

The chuck does not slip with anular bits.

It is only one speed, which works well. But if you need variable speed you need to buy the next model up.

The magnet grip works well. Need to brush it off and keep it clean.

This unit takes a 15 amp glass cylinder fuse. Around 300 holes the fuse wore out. It’s easy to replace, only 4 little screw behind the on/off switch. Would recommend to have a few on hand.

  6. MikeD

I have had it a couple of years and it has been a very good experience working it .It is worth the money and it will get you out of some tough situations when working with all kinds of metals.

    spedizione rapida quindi top.

I have drilled hundreds of holes in the past with a Milwaukee mag drill and was hesitant to try this drill but for the price decided it was worth a try. I would recommend this drill as a five star rating on the price alone. I have drilled at least 200 5/8″ holes through mainly 1/4″ thick material so far with no issues. Use it correctly by keeping the bit cool with fluid and down press down, wont have issues.

Be apprised this is a long review:
First off Read the enclosed operating manual..
I read reviewers that complain about the electro magnet base getting hot. All AC electro magnets get hot when left energized for a prolonged amount of time and it plainly states that in the owners manual if you bother to read it, kind of obvious to me the complainers failed to read it…lol
The Veyvor Mag Drill is a quality built unit, just like all their tools are (and I also own their chainsaw grinder) which is on par with the Oregon grinder and in some ways superior to it but at a price point WELL below the cost of an Oregon chain grinder, I was very impressed with it, clean die castings, accurate and superior chain vise and depth stop adjustment (versus the Oregon) as well and that was a prime impetus for buying the Vevor Mag Drill. I sharpen saw chain loops for my arborist customers constantly I might add and I have both the Oregon grinder as well as the Veyvor. Enough said on that.
The Vevor Mag Drill has some faults however. The most glaring fault is the exposed drill motor cord which can get in the way when setting the drill up on a vertical surface especially. Additionally, the base is stationary and not rotatable when the magnet is energized so you must align in carefully when drilling a hole with it.
The drill is very well assembled and I observe no runout in the spindle what so ever. It’s heavy (like all Mag Drills are but the magnetic holding power is great but I would still secure it when drilling in a vertical position, you don’t want a 20+ pound machine dropping on your foot.

I purchased the upgraded model simply because a large number of holes I drill require second operation tapping so the reverseable and variable speeds are a requirement. I can drill a hole with either a twist drill chucked in the supplied Jacobs style drill chuck, remove the drill and replace it with a tap and start the tap straight and true and then loosed the chuck and remove the machine and finish the tapping with a manual tap driver.

The model I purchased also comes with an assortment of HSS Annular cutters but I strongly suggest purchasing a set of carbide tipped annular cutters as well. Carbide tipped cutters will far outlast HSS cutters at least 5 times or more if you plan on boring multiple holes.

I would also invest in a tube of Hougen Slick Stick semi solid annular cutter lubricant for vertical operations as the supplied coolant-lubricant bottle cannot be used in the vertical operation and the annular cutters require sufficient lubrication when boring to insure a clean, burr free hole.

Finally, for standard boring, machine at 90 degrees to the workpiece, I suggest using the supplied ‘coolant’ bottle and delivery hose and introduce coolant / lubricant into the hollow spindle and hollow annular cutters and I use a synthetic EP coolant in the coolant bottle, same stuff I use for flood coolant in my machine tools but straight, not dilluted.

Finally everything I’ve listed is available here on Amazon.
