10 reviews for DEWALT Table Saw for Jobsites, 8-1/4 Inch, 15 Amp (DWE7485)

  1. Ken M.

I have been eyeing this saw for some time. I have a full sized Bosch 10 inch saw with stand that is 20 years old but works really well. Problem is that it’s too heavy to lug around on job sites on a regular basis. I thought this little guy would be perfect for that. First day today and I put it to a lot of tests ripping down 2 1/4 oak boards to 1.5 inches for floor board repairs.
Power was excellent, not super light, but much lighter than my Bosch, and well designed with a nice metal handle so you can carry with one hand and walk down halls and up stairs. I also love the heavy duty rubber feet so I can leave it in the floor and not worry about it moving around while cutting. On off switch is nice and safe. My only real issue is with the fence….I has to be clipped in place on both sides and it’s not super easy to keep it straight, or worse, to scoot it over a 1/8 inch to make a smaller or bigger cut. When you unclip it’s all loose and you need to spend time getting it just right. Not a good design. The Bosch is far superior. It catches in back and has a nice lace snapping mechanism in front that is really easy to operate and you can easily loosen it and just scoot a touch. I may try to see if I can find an after market fence to replace this one. Worst case, it’ll be fine. Just slows you down a bit if you have to do a lot of ripping of different sizes. It does snap under the saw when I’m transit which is a great feature and push stick, comes with it, snaps in there too. Overall, I’m happy. Reasonable price for sure for what you get. Even the blade that comes with it is nice

Great saw. Has done the job well for all of our home projects. It’s easy to adjust whenever needed with great accuracy. Size is just right to be able to move it around as needed

Está muy bien, todo está perfecto

Firstly – Should have bought it years ago. I’ve been using a cast iron Craftsman 10″ for years, but the belt drive was getting iffy. Plus, moving it around the garage was half the time spent instead of cutting. This is the cure! Get ready for an in-depth (unpacking) review…

Secondly – The cons: My only real gripes; are that the start button needs better access – it would be nice to have a “click feel” when adjusting the different positions of the slide bevel push handle (Hitachi makes a very nice one) – and the tabletop is obviously smaller than my 10″ Craftsman saw. I’ll have to make a surface extension as it’s not going to be fully portable.

I sell these at my place of work, but for $20 more. I wanted to see if the online version was just as well built and with the same features as ours. I was right, they are the same. Very well-built, and solid with no shakes or rattles. I’ll include pictures for your viewing pleasure and informational needs. I put a 48″ straight edge on the table with the fence extended, using the measurement bar on the saw as a reference: spot on for blade/fence span.

From the edge of the table shown in the spanned setting with the tape measure, 35″ overall in case you wonder about support width. With a true 24-1/2″ from blade to inside edge of fence fully extended. Picture 9 – The fence (flip-down support), is a very nice touch to help keep whatever it is you are running through in a full rip-level with the table surface.

The blade guard shown in picture 3 – ours at work doesn’t have this feature as it must be an older version. But this one; the guard you can lock in the upright position for a little more clarity if you need it. Nice oversized stop button that you can hit in a hurry; or if you are wearing gloves – you don’t need to use just a finger to turn it off. The start button, to me, could be a little more accessible, or stick out farther. A minor detail. The blade spin with nothing loaded on it, stops in about 2 seconds from full spin. A nice touch, compared to a belt-driven blade which takes 2 weeks 🙂

I like the tool storage on it, two places to put your blade stop/nut wrench. I see on the inside underneath, what looks like an additional tool storage slot, but the instructions do not say what it’s for, nor is it labeled. Picture 5 – An extra place to put your blade kerf for when you transport it. Also on the outside of the fence is your push tool storage. You can also store your fence upside down under the right side of the table surface in transport mode!

Picture 7/10 you get an idea what hose adaptor size for the dust collector you need. There is a tension adjustment for your fence extension bars on the left side underneath, if it feels a little loose you can give it a turn or two. I didn’t install the kickback teeth as I do a lot of full – semi-full ripping of plywood, it’s more of a hindrance than a help in my case. But for those who are new at table saws, I would suggest putting it on. There’s also a handy storage for that kickback tool under the table surface.

Overall, I’m happy with this saw. A very nice blade they install for you, smooth angle adjustment. Easy change blade guard with dust collection port on it. Dewalt wins again.

Update: I’ve used it a dozen times now (plywood, 2×4, ripped a few 1x and wood trim). I put a collection bag on the blade guard, and a vacuum on the lower port. It will collect about 90% of the dust. The clear plastic blade guard I find I lock it in the upright position 9/10 times I use it, as I’m picky on “seeing” where it cuts (get yourself a nice face shield and dust mask). It’s very loud, you will need ear protection. I still don’t like the “on switch”, you really have to jab it with an ungloved finger to activate it. Not very efficient when you are holding material in your other hand.

Compacta. Bien construida.

I love this table saw. It is a quality made machine with easy to set controls. Handles all types of wood. Easy to clean and store when done using. You are getting a good saw at this price

Very portable, very powerful, and at a great price, you can’t go wrong with this saw.

  8. Nonyabiznz

Great saw. Shipped fast. Packaged well. Works awesome. And good price too, especially with stand. Thanks A+

This little saw greatly exceeded my expectations. I can’t remember the last time I was this happy with a purchase. It suits my needs to a Tee.

  10. Kniday

I absolutely love this saw. I bought it because we really lack any space for any more tools. Our shed is already packed as it is, and even though my wife is always approving of most tool purchases (she is a contractor herself, and understands the value of good tools), she wasn’t about to let me shove a big ‘ol wheeled table saw in there without having to get rid of something else. So when I saw this smaller version of Dewalt’s dependable table saw line, it was a compromise I’d been waiting for.

My favorite thing about this saw is the fence. It appears to be identical to the fence they use on their 10″ models. It is super easy to set up, and the index pins they use helps ensure your fence is truly parallel to the blade. The adjustment dial is quick and easy, and the measurement guide is pretty accurate. It is one of the best fences I’ve seen on a portable saw.

The way the whole thing packs up into a compact footprint is another feature I like, and it barely takes up any more room than any of my wife’s tools. You can pretty much pack up the whole saw at the end of the day in about 2 minutes.

Despite it’s size, you can still rip a 4×8 sheet fairly easily, assuming it isn’t super heavy (like melamine). But for most types of plywood and other sheet goods, this thing’s got you covered.

I would highly recommend that you always use a vacuum attached to the saw when doing any sizable cuts. I pretty much always use the vacuum when I run this saw, for it really doesn’t eject the sawdust on it’s own out of the rear port very well. It’s got a standard 2″ port on the back that fit’s most larger wet/dry vacs.

Changing the blade and riving knives is also super quick and easy.

If you don’t need a super powerful saw, and need something versatile and portable, this is an excellent choice. If you’re cutting a lot of hardwoods and thicker materials, or if you need to use a dado blade, you’ll want to consider their larger 10″ version.
